Lelőhely:
Egykor Nyitra megye, Galgócz, ma Szlovákia, Hlohovec. Erdődy Ferenc birtokán a Vágtól nem messze.

Meglelése:
1868 nyarán, árokásás alkalmával a munkások lovassírra bukkantak. A megmentett leleteket ifj. Kubinyi Ferenc mutatta meg Rómer Flórisnak, aki egyébként megsejtette e lemez valódi rendeltetését: „..egy ezüst paizs alakú lemez, hasonló a huszár-tarsoly födőjéhez, ez bőrre volt szegekkel és apró kampókkal erősítve". Rómer később csatlakozott Lehocky Tivadar süvegdísznek tartott véleményéhez. A leleteket Erdődy a Nemzeti Múzeumnak ajándékozta.
